WORKING
For a Good Cause

Join the kiwifruit industry for a day

and help our community!

At Garcia we are all about people and giving back to our community is our way to say thank you for everyone’s efforts to keep our beloved kiwifruit industry up and running.

Throughout the year, we gather closed groups to work for a day or two during weekends. In exchange we will donate $1 per hour worked to charity!

If you have a group of five people or more keen to earn some extra money over the weekend and help our community, this is your chance!

How the Campaign Works

For all closed groups who join us, we will donate $1 per hour worked per person of the group to the Tauranga Community Food Bank.

All group workers would still receive their regular payment as per our usual rates during the season. Our rates vary from season to season, depending on which work is being carried out.

This means if you are a group of 20 people keen to work on a Saturday, during the summer pruning season for example, for the full day from 8.00am to 5pm, each of you would earn $198.9 + 8% holiday pay in gross wages, and Garcia would donate an additional $180 to the Tauranga Food Bank.

You can register to participate at any time of the year

Our rates will vary from season to season. The amount you and your team will get paid depends on which kiwifruit season you will be working at. For more information such as rates and which work is carried out on each season, please click on the links below.

What is the Tauranga Community Food Bank?

Tauranga Community Food Bank is a local charity who support families in the form of food parcels.

Operating since 1991, Tauranga Foodbank have helped over 18,500 people in 2020, delivering over 6,900 food parcels in the greater Tauranga region.

Every week hundreds of Tauranga residents relies on food  parcel to feed their households. Sadly it’s not uncommon for the Food Bank to run out of supplies before finishing the week’s distribution, leaving families without food for a few days.

Every donation counts, and at Garcia we embrace that cause and urge you to participate in this campaign to enable us to help even further.

You can find more about the Tauranga Food Bank in their website: https://taurangafoodbank.co.nz/
